Instructions

You begin the game in a safe room with no robots. From there you can exit into adjacent rooms. You must destroy the robots while avoiding the electrified walls of the maze.

There are three types of robots. One that doesn’t fire, one that fires in the cardinal directions and the third type fires 8 directions. Once you clear the room of robots, you have a short time to escape before Otto appears and tries to destroy you. Otto cannot be defeated by bullets. Robots will try to reach you and will randomly fire in your direction. Their bullets cannot be stopped by your own, however the smart bomb will destroy both robots and active bullets. Run-Stop will pause the game and allow you to either continue or return to the title page.

An extra life is awarded at 3000 points.

PET 2001 Version

While a PET 2001 version is included, I find this model difficult to work with. For example, screen clear codes often don’t work unless I send a carriage return first. It’s as if the machine is in quote mode all the time. I’m also not able to test the game on a true 32k 2001 model. This version is included, but may be problematic. The 2001 version requires you to press Space to toggle title page and high scores.

Thanks for the great game!

I am using the colour PET version on my PET rebuild.

I was wondering if the colours on the High score page and the adjustment pages could be changed to something with more contrast from the background? The text is bare readable and some other colurs would be helpful.

Many thanks again

André

cool a.f.

I found a few bugs.  One is where I could only shoot left by one character (the other directions seemed to still work), and it's crashed a couple of times.

I have video of both if they are any use.

Video would help as well as what controller you were using and machine model and if it was the demo or full game.

Using keys, on a real PET 4032, with the full version.  Here is an unlisted video of two lockups, and the strange shooting problem.  I also put up a proper video earlier of me playing it normally with no problems.

Video removed, as it seems to be fixed.

please try your luck with v1.1 and let me know if you have any mods to your hardware, or use a datasette.

Thanks.  I've just been playing it for a while, and I didn't get a lockup or the shooting problem.

My PET is standard apart from I load from an SD2PET and I added a reset button.

I believe it was the IRQ, which runs behind the scenes. I tried a different approach in this game than I normally do.

Nice :-)
Would it be possible to allow an option for the fire key to be '5' on the keypad?  I think that would make it much easier to control.
Maybe I should get one of the joystick adapters.  I'm terrible at controlling games with keys.

edit: Actually, I've just realised you can get diagonals by pressing two of the other directions, so I can use one hand with my fingers on 8,6,4,2 and my left with space.  That's much easier.

It could be done, yes.
